Detoxifying & Cleansing Your Body: The Facts

I joined The Man Diet. But why do I feel this way?

So you’ve started The Man Diet, you’ve accepted the Transform30 Challenge, and you’re slowly making positive changes in your nutrition choices by eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole foods that are rich in antioxidants. All of a sudden you’re getting more tired, sluggish, feeling like you have the flu, and experiencing symptoms such as bloating, gas, diarrhea, stomach cramps, constipation or bad breath. You’re probably wondering, “What’s going on?”

Don’t panic. What you’re feeling is actually normal. That’s because your body is currently going through a detoxification process. You’re actually on your way to better health!


We live in a world filled with environmental pollution.

You might not be aware, but your body is perpetually trying to detoxify itself internally from substances such as your own dead tissue, cholesterol and uric acid. At the same time, it’s also trying to detoxify externally from thing like microbes, dioxin, PCBs and other chemicals.

Did you know that on average, a human being in North America will test positive for 270 chemicals? Our bodies are exposed everyday to everything from rocket fuel, Teflon, plasticizers, lead, mercury, pesticides and petrochemicals!


Here is a list of sample sources of toxicity:

  • Industrial Chemicals and Combustion Pollutants – Pretty much everybody is exposed daily to halogenated hydrocarbons, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
  • Pesticides – Did you know 800 different chemicals belong to this class of toxicants? Pesticide manufacturers often try to make them selective for specific types of organisms. But at the end of the day, pesticides are always toxic in some way to humans.
  • Toxic Metals – Toxic metals are ubiquitous in the environment. They are deadlier than you think, because they accumulate in the body and often have delayed side effects. Lead toxicity can cause DNA damage, depressed immune system function, anemia, hypertension, kidney disease, and increased tooth decay.
  • Food Additives, Preservatives & Drugs – Drugs don’t just enter your body from the sources that we intend to consume. Certain drugs like growth hormones and antibacterials—are considered one of the main contaminants of foods.


Thankfully, the human body is a miraculous machine.

It is capable of repairing damaged tissue, cleansing dead material and removing foreign chemical pollutants out of the body. But to perform these biochemical reactions, the body needs enzymes. Lots and lots of enzymes that are only available when a person consumes a large amount of plant matter in their diet. So chances are before you joined The Man Diet, your body never went through a full cleanse and the detoxification process was never completed.


The consequences of not cleansing your body are severe and long-lasting, and symptoms worsen with time.

When you fail to fully detox and cleanse your body on a regular basis, your putting yourself at risk of increased allergies and food sensitivities, frequent cold and flu infections, joint pain, headaches and migraines, arthritis, sinusitis, GI issues, muscle cramping, tissue swelling, fatigue, mental fuzziness, mood irregularities, depression, parasites, skin breakouts, and acne… to name just a few.


Now that you’re on The Man Diet, you’re on your way to a fully detoxed and cleansed body!

Just remember to get plenty of rest, schedule in moderate exercise workout sessions 4 days per week, breathe deeply every day, and most importantly drink lots of water (enough so your urine will run clear). When done together you’ll be helping your body eliminate toxins as quickly as possible.
